Being a good guest, I’m strolling around barefooted – courtesy demanded I leave my shoes at the door :>) I just want to say this is a fascinating web site. Only fair that it is as it deals with one of the most fascinating former curmudgeon I’ve ever encountered. I say former because I believe age might be having a mellowing effect on Mr. Douglas. Keep in mind, World, that if you want to know about movies, John Douglas is your man. Besides being witty and wise, he knows movies like you wouldn’t believe! And I personally thank him, not only for his knowledge, but for sharing it with us.
Welcome to the world of technology John, wow, you have a top-notch website! I love it and can’t wait to share! Loved your ‘my,myself and I’story, now I really know you! HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOUNG MAN!
The blog is moving like a glacier at the present time but I hope that soon it will gain momentum. Slow or fast I hope to make it worth reading. Thanks to all who have taken the time to add something to the blog and it makes no matter to me that they are friends and relatives.
I like your website, John. I especially liked the Me, Myself, and I section. Since I have known you only in recent years, it was nice to see the man behind the beard!
Thank you.

Hey John,
Great site!! It’s nice to get some background on the best movie critic to come down the pike. I loved your no nonsense approach. And I’m loving the Classic Movie Series you have going. What a wonderful opportunity to see all the old movies on the big screen. It’s a great service to the community and I hope that it continues. Good luck, John. Love your new digs. Kudos to you, and to the webmaster too.
Love all the information available about you in this web site. Can not wait for the next line up of Classics at the Celebration Cinema. Classics, big screen, John Douglas….nothing better for a movie buff!
Nice article on Walter Cronkite. I too grew up with him and I was amazed at how much I learned about him when they ran all the Bios after he died. I think the way he viewed his postion as a reporter to report the facts with the time honored Who -What- Where- Where appproach is something that has been lost over the years. Now you find yourself saying “Who’s opinion of the news would I like to listen to tonight!?”
Oh, and by the way, I didn’t know you had Photo Shop on your computer! Nice mixing with that picture of Sophia!
Your are right about Photoshop. The picture was done on PhotoShop but not by me. It was done on Sophia’s PhotoShop which, when I saw it, explained the mystery of why she requested photos of me.
Hi! I feel funny leaving a comment about this… buuut I can’t find your card with your email on it… so here goes
I love the celebrating the classics series you do at Celebration Cinema… You once said if we had any movie suggestions feel free to suggest them… well, I would loooooove to see “Three Little Words” with Fred Astaire, Red Skelton, and Vera Ellen play on the big screen…I have been in love with that movie ever since I was about 10 years old and have worn out my taped off tv copy…
My votes for future series are:
Lawrence of Arabia
The Sound of Music
From Russia With Love
The Great Ziegfeld
An American in Paris
The Pirate
Ben-Hur
My Fair Lady
Marty
Derar Beth,
They are now officially on the list.
Thanks.
John

Why Me?
Why not? I‘ve spent most of my life in the world of the moving image and it’s too late to stop now. I made movies, taught movies, and eventually reviewed movies for The Grand Rapids Press.
